Hamilton sets quickest practice time in Malaysia
Lewis Hamilton recorded the fastest time in the second free practice for the Malaysian Grand Prix after Felipe Massa had dominated the majority of the first two sessions in Sepang.
Hamilton produced a fastest lap of one minute 35.055 seconds in his McLaren to edge out his Ferrari rival by just over a tenth of a second with Massa's team-mate Kimi Raikkonen 0.373sec back in third.
"I am pretty happy with that as the car showed consistent pace all through the session and also good overall speed," Hamilton said. "Unfortunately the morning session was not perfect for me as I had a slight problem on the car right at the end."
Raikkonen had set a time of 1min 36.045sec early in the session, which proved the benchmark for the 90-minute period until the Finn went over four tenths of a second quicker.
Jenson Button, of Honda, claimed fourth place late on, albeit nearly a second off the pace, while Vettel eventually took fifth. Jarno Trulli was sixth in his Toyota, Heikki Kovalainen seventh in the second McLaren while Robert Kubica compled the top eight in his BMW Sauber.
