Davydenko wins in Miami

Nikolay Davydenko defeated world number two Rafael Nadal in straight sets to become the first Russian winner of the Miami Masters.

The 26-year-old broke twice to take the opening set 6-4, before overpowering Nadal with a near faultless display to romp home 6-2 in the second and claim his second masters title - adding to his 2006 win in Paris.
Such was Davydenko's mastery of the Nadal serve that the Spaniard was broken four times - having suffered just two breaks in the entire tournament before the final.
Nadal was far from his best. His serving was erratic and all too often his usually reliable groundstrokes missed their target or found the net. "He was playing unbelievable tennis and there was nothing I could do," said Nadal - who has now sat at two in the world for 140 weeks.

For Davydenko, the Miami title is his first since October 2007, and will provide welcome relief from the lingering allegations of match-fixing which have blighted his career for over six months.
The win also validated a decision to enter the tournament for the first time in seven years.
"I had never played very well here in Miami. Now I have won my second Masters Series title and it's crazy for me," said the world number four afterwards.
